Personal Story of Lajos L. Varga
Everybody wants to make a difference, to leave this World a better place than it would be without him or her. As a restless undergraduate, I was eagerly looking for the possible tools that provides some help for this reason. On a marvelous day, I finally found a suitable aid to fulfill the purpose of my life. That thing was the "numerical modeling".
Actually, what I have seen was a running piece of COSMOS, a finite element based software being used for static analysis of the structure of some kind of bridge. That was the first piece of software I have seen from the magnificent realm of modeling.
A bit later, in 1994, I have had the privilege to encounter a finite volume method based CFD software, called FLUENT. That moment had changed my life completely. It was true love at first sight. Since then I have managed to solve numerous technical problems by means of FLUENT, and my initial enthusiasm regarding this sophisticated piece of tool has not faded a bit. The concept of predicting a system's behavior still fascinates me.
